• 15.1-megapixel CMOS: The new Canon EOS 50D features a CMOS image sensor that captures images with exceptional clarity and tonal range. This APS-C size sensor (22.3 x 14.9mm) has the same 3:2 ratio as film cameras, enabling an effective angle of view that is 1.6x the normal EF Lens focal length. 14-bit A/D conversion means fine transitions from light to dark tones, and a significant drop in digital and shadow noise. • Face detection live: The next generation DIGIC 4 Image Processor allows this camera to perform like no other. This camera detects and focuses on up to 35 faces to capture the best possible shot.
• 9-point cross AF: The newly designed, high-precision 9-point wide area AF uses cross-type points with lenses f/5.6 or faster, enabling the camera to focus faster, more accurately, in more complex lighting.
• 3.0" LCD display: The Live View function lets you view subjects directly on the huge 3-inch LCD monitor, which is brighter and more detailed than on previous DSLRs. • HDMI output: The EOS 50D includes a new HDMI (High Definition Multimedia Interface) output device that enables high definition display of your photographs on any HDTV with HDMI ports.
• Included lens: The 28-135mm f/3.5-5.6 IS USM is a standard zoom lens with an image stabilizer and high zoom ratio. Turn on the image stabilizer for sharp, natural-looking pictures in dim lighting without using flash or a tripod—very handy for places where flash is prohibited. The ring-type USM provides swift, silent autofocus and full-time manual focus. The closest focusing distance is 20 inches.
• Lens compatibility: The EOS 50D is compatible with all Canon lenses in the EF and EF-S lineup.
• Optical viewfinder: The optical viewfinder's large magnification (0.95x) makes composing frames easier.
• Memory: This camera stores images on Compact Flash memory cards (not included).
