• Get full coverage of NOAA broadcasts. Radio provides complete coverage of all government-operated National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) broadcasts.
• Extended capability provides up to 27-mile range. Range will vary depending on terrain and conditions, but with an unobstructed view, you can talk up to 27 miles away!
• 22 channels and auto squelch function. Front panel push buttons provide easy access to all 22 channels (7 GMRS/FRS, 7 FRS and 8 GMRS). With 142 privacy codes, you have a total of 3,124 "sub-channels" when the 38 CTCSS privacy codes and 104 DCS codes are combined with the 22 channels ? that means a huge reduction in interference. Auto squelch function automatically shuts off weak transmissions or unwanted noise due to terrain or range constraints. Maximum Range Extender overrides the auto squelch to provide extended range reception. 10-channel memory allows you to program up to 10 channels or channel/privacy code combinations for easy retrieval. The scan feature allows you to scan either channels, CTCSS privacy codes within a channel, DCS codes within a channel, or up to 10 memory locations to locate avoid conversations in progress. When activated, the key lock feature provides key pad security eliminating accidental channel changes.
• Headset jack for hands-free operation. Also allows use of a wall charger or earphone speaker/microphone (not included) for the convenience of hands-free operation. Patented VibrAlert? provides a silent alert for incoming calls, making it ideal for noisy or all-quiet environments. Plus, with VOX (voice activated transmission), your voice is detected so the radio transmits without the need to press any buttons ? freeing your hands for other tasks. 5 VOX sensitivity levels allow you to select at which point the radio will detect your voice.
• Low-battery alert and battery saver mode. Includes 2 lithium ion rechargeable batteries (1 per radio). 2-port desktop charger charges the supplied rechargeable batteries inside the radios. Charger accommodates 1 or 2 radios. A unique circuit extends the life of the batteries. If there are no transmissions within 10 seconds, the unit will automatically switch to battery saver mode. You can also choose between high power to maximize range, medium or low power to conserve battery life (in GMRS). The Time-Out Timer limits transmit time to 3 continuous minutes to extend battery life and prevent accidental transmission.
• Call Alert & Roger Beep for clear communications. Call Alert function provides an easily recognizable alert for incoming calls. Roger Beep confirmation tone indicates the completion of your transmission, and signals to others it is clear to talk. This feature is selectable and can be turned on or off. Get up to 10 call tones so you can differentiate between 10 different parties on incoming calls.
