• Full-HD recording: Images recorded by conventional HD camcorders have only 1,440 horizontal pixels, while full-HD camcorders have 1,920. That's about 30 percent more recording pixels! The result is a level of detail goes beyond anything you've ever experienced. And because full-HD recordings contain a vast amount of picture information, they look beautiful on standard-definition TVs as well.
• 3CCD mechanism: This camcorder uses 3 CCD imagers, one for each of the primary colors (red, green and blue) into which incoming light is split. This picks up more light than traditional single CCD camcorders and delivers a more natural, brighter color reproduction.

• 2.7 LCD screen: This screen delivers a clear picture of the action during recording and playback. The wide, 170-degree viewing angle lets you move with more freedom while watching the screen.
• Optical image stabilizer (OIS): Camera shake happens. Unsteady hands, shooting while in motion—these factors can reduce the quality of your video. Panasonic built-in stabilization compensates for hand-shake and helps keep your videos crisp, steady and blur-free.
• Record on SD card: The HDC-SD5's USB Host function lets you connect directly to a DVD burner by using a USB cable. You can copy recordings from the SD Memory Card to a DVD disc, maintaining the original full-HD format. Or use the included software to burn a full-HD recording from an SD Memory Card to a DVD disc on your PC.
• Zoom: The 10x optical zoom helps to bring the action close up from far away.
• Audio: Use the zoom microphone to record in 2.1 stereo sound.
• AVCHD video compression: This hi-def compression technology is far more efficient than standard definition MPEG-2, offering both reduced storage requirements and better video quality.
• Digital still mode: Use your camcorder as a camera to shoot 2.1-megapixel photos.
