Yes it can and it's easy
Pros: easy to use, durable, effective
Cons: manual cleaner doesn't clean as well as automatic, auto cleaner cleans a circle

Good device overall (and tips for use)
Pros: Easy to use, compact
Cons: "crop circles," uses a lot of fluid
BottomLine: Very good device for cleaning small spills and accidents. Be prepared to do a little more work than just hitting the "go" button though.

I returned mine, PLEASE READ THIS REVIEW
Pros: walk away feature, just set it down and walk away till it beeps
Cons: CROP CIRCLE MARKS STAIN CARPET, and uses alot of cleaning solution. 3 spots per tank.
BottomLine: Mine is long gone, but still reminds me of its existence every time I walk by a crop circle still on my floor.

Great little device

Great machine for untrained pets. Watch out for crop-circles, though.
Pros: Works very well, one-touch and walk away, picks up everything it puts down
Cons: Makes "crop circles" in carpet, Kinda loud, the beeping sound when done is annoying
BottomLine: I would recommend this to puppy-owners and anyone who hates scrubbing by hand. One touch and walk away. Cleans well; picks up what it puts down.

not as good as expected or hoped for
Pros: good for a really clean carpet that just had a teeny spot to clean
Cons: it soaks through the carpet and could damage the floor beneath
BottomLine: don't waste the money, buy something to clean the whole carpet, like dry foam, it's better for your carpet, floors and effort
