Good lens - when it works
Pros: Inexpensive, stabilised, lightweight, decent IQ.
Cons: IQ and focus have foibles that the user has to address in use.
BottomLine: Given care to address the lenses failings, it's quite a good lens. I don't recommend it for professional use.

Canon EF 75-300mm f4/5.6 IS USM lens
Pros: Good price, effective 3-stop reduction possible, Canon reliability.
Cons: Focus often hunts, some softness, especially at 300mm end.
BottomLine: First lens for this range? This is great value. Not perfect but at around £350 and not £1,350 you are getting plenty of lens for your money.
