Good DVD player for general use
Pros: Easy to setup and use, variety of options for the average user, nice picture quality.
Cons: None
BottomLine: The tray and buttons are solid and the playback is great for the average viewer. Plenty of options. I would buy it again.

Blue Ray vs HD DVD is a moot point with this unit!
Pros: 1080p, DTS decoding. Plays your existing DVDs in near HD quality. Audio Out options.
Cons: No warning HDMI needed for upconvert, No supplied HDMI cable. Funny menu.
BottomLine: If you have an HDTV and want a near HD picture quality with your regular DVDs this is a phenomenal bargain.

When HD does not Equal High Definition
Pros: Beautiful, great Sony name, easy to use, easy to set up
Cons: High Definition in the name DOES NOT mean it plays HD DVDs.
BottomLine: If you have an HD TV save your money and get an HD DVD player. If you have a regular TV, you'll love this player.

Not a RECORDER it is an UPCONVERT dvd player !
Pros: Sony quality, easy to use, attractive sony screen
Cons: The upconvert is not as impressive as I expected.
BottomLine: Go with Sony when it comes to dvd players. I've used different brands but Sony stands out.
